This has never happened to me before, but it did for this track –
Was walking Suzy and lyrics popped into my head. Not my normal silly-ass lyrics, mind you, but break-up song lyrics. It was bizarre.
Got home, hung up the leash, fed Suzy, then plopped down in front of the computer and committed the lyrics to a Google doc. Came back later and wrote another verse. Came back the next morning and changed a few words here and there.
Sat back and thought “That was weird. A breakup song. The Brothers Burn don’t do breakup songs.”
Guess there’s a first for everything.
Then spent an inordinate amount of time on what is normally the easy part – the music. Discovered that shoe-horning lyrics is tougher than I thought. But eventually…
